ELOFIT fittings installed in Syzran oil refinery

ELOFIT fittings have been installed in the Syzran oil refinery in south-eastern Russia. Electrofusion and butt fusion fittings from Ø63mm to Ø315mm were used for the water supply system. ELOFIT fittings are particularly suitable to be used in large industrial plants thanks to the considerable dimensions they are able to reach. Founded in 1683 as a fortress at the confluence of the small river Syzranka in the Volga, the city developed significantly from the last quarter of the nineteenth century, when it became an important center for interchange between rail and river transport on the Volga. Largely destroyed by fire in 1906, it later developed into an industrial center. The city is still an important industrial center, among the largest in the region; the most developed sector is petrochemicals, thanks to the presence of the important oil refinery, which is part of the Samara group of oil refineries. The construction of Syzran Refinery began before World War II, and the first batch of oil products was produced in 1942. In the early 1970s, the refinery was expanded and modernized: the capacity for primary oil distillation increased by 40%, the capacity for hydrotreatment and bitumen production increased by over 70%. The refinery capacity is 8.5 million ton (65.1 million barrels) of oil per year. The plant processes oil from Orenburg Region, West Siberia and that produced in Samara Region. The plant produces a wide range of petroleum products, including high-quality motor fuel and bitumen plants. In 2015, the Refinery completed the transition to the production of Euro-5 environmental standard commercial products. The construction of a catalytic cracking complex will allow the Refinery to increase the processing depth to 77.5%.
